Privacy Policy
OpenLoop (“the App”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the App.
1. Information We Collect
The App collects only the information necessary to provide its core functionality.
This includes:
- User-generated content that you voluntarily enter into the App, such as notes, conversation updates, or reminders.
- Anonymous usage data about how the App is used, described in section 2.
The App does not require account creation and does not collect personal identifiers such as name, address, or payment information.
Analytics requests reveal an approximate location derived from your IP address, roughly to city level. The App never accesses your device’s GPS or precise location.
2. How We Use Information
Information is used solely to:
- Provide and operate the App’s core features
- Understand which features are used, so the App can be improved
User-generated content is processed only within the App for the purpose of displaying and managing that content.
The App collects anonymous usage data: when the App is opened, which screens are used, whether a feature was used, subscription events, the answers you give during setup, and error information when something goes wrong. This data is not linked to your identity and does not include anything you write about a person.
The App does not:
- Sync your content across devices
- Send marketing, promotional, or service-related communications
If this changes in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.
3. Data Storage, Notifications, and Security
Everything you enter into the App — contacts, notes, updates, reminders, and custom fields — is stored locally on your device.
That content is never transmitted over the internet and is never stored on external servers. Only the anonymous usage data described above leaves your device.
Any notifications shown by the App are local notifications generated on the user’s device. These notifications are created and managed by the device’s operating system and are not sent from OpenLoop servers.
The App does not implement its own authentication, encryption, or security mechanisms. Access to the App and its data is controlled by the security features of the user’s device (such as device lock, passcode, or biometric protection), which are managed by the device owner.
Aside from the anonymous usage data described above, the only external communication related to the App may be standard app updates delivered by the app distribution platform, which are managed entirely by that platform.
Users should avoid entering sensitive personal information into the App.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell or rent your data, and we never share it for advertising.
The anonymous usage data described above is processed on our behalf by PostHog, hosted in the EU. If you send us feedback from the feedback form, your answers are delivered through Formspree.
Your contacts and anything you write about them are never shared with PostHog, Formspree, or anyone else.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
User-generated content remains in the App until it is deleted by the user or the App is removed from the device.
Because that content is stored locally, uninstalling the App removes all associated data from the device.
6. Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if the App’s functionality changes. Any updates will be posted on this page.
